Winners listed for four events at the Rossburn Mixed Bonspiel. Top teams include Bob Chuchmuch Angusville and Elmer Brown Rossburn with notable placings for Stebeleski Oak, Myershyn Vista, and Nychuk Angusville. Club thanks participants and prize donors and notes ice from Shoal Lake Curling Club.
Gerald Brown is re-elected for a second term as Associate Vice President Personnel of the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. He joined the 180 voice group in 1965 and oversees recruitment auditions and initiation of new members. The 1977 season ends with Brahms German Requiem in Winnipeg on April 12 with the Symphony Orchestra.
Halldor Bjarnason of Winnipeg represents disabled children in Manitoba for the Easter Seal Campaign March 13 to April 10. He will be special guest at the Timmy Dance on April 29 at CFB Portage la Prairie. Contributions in Rossburn are mailed to the Lions Club or dropped at the TD Bank.
Anne Luhowy won the Lucky Buck Draw 48.50 at the Rossburn Lions Club rink event. The next draw is scheduled for April 16 at the hockey windup.
The March 14 1977 Rossburn council proceedings record motions approved on read minutes highway correspondence and financial statements. A 11:00 am delegation with Waywayseecappo Band discussed gravel boundaries road work and weed control. Later a tax sale title issue for parcel NW 11-19-25 WPM was addressed with a resolution and continued on page 4.
The Park LGD met in Russell Manitoba with Reeve Novalkowski presiding and six councillors present. Minutes approved, drainage concerns discussed, road access denied for NE% 23-29-28W, and Parkland Beach funding request declined. By-Laws 393 394 395 given readings and cost changes approved. Meeting adjourned with next session set for April 11.
At the Manitoba Liberal Convention in Winnipeg on March 18 and 19 the Birtle-Russell Liberal Association received the trophy for most improved constituency. Liberal leader Charles Huband received six standing ovations for his Saturday address urging a Liberal government. John Roberts spoke on national unity and Ted Malone addressed delegates.
Birtle defeated Rossburn 7 to 4 at Birtle on Saturday, winning the playoff series two games to none. Rossburn’s March 23 game at Foxwarren featured Deryl Ortynsky with 4 goals 4 assists, Art Peck 4 goals 5 assists, John Ryshytylo 3 goals 5 assists, Bob Rachel 3 goals 5 assists, Ed Miller 1 goal, Myron Glushka 1 goal 2 assists, while Bobby Shingoose scored all Wayway goals.
