Over five weeks a group of parents from Russell and teachers from Pelly Trail School Division joined a lecture series organized by Denis Boscher and Westman Mental Retardation Services. Twelve topics covered learning principles and their application with individual behavioural programs.
The NCHL Western Division Statistician released final season statistics for 1974 75. Two Angusville game sheets and one Rossburn sheet were not received, leaving some data incomplete.
Mr. and Mrs. Graham Murray and their son and daughter in law visited the Nycheks this week. The Murrays recently returned from Australia where they spent a year teaching in Sydney. En route home they enjoyed holidays in Singapore Malaysia Thailand the Philippines Hong Kong and Hawaii.
Rossburn Lions Club hosts a jackpot bingo on Wednesday April 2 at 8 p.m. in the town hall basement with 1st prize 150 in 49 numbers and 2nd prize 150 in 54 numbers.
Friends and neighbors gathered March 2 1975 at the Rossburn home of Mrs Daisy Hlagie to celebrate her 80th birthday. Ukrainian song gifts a birthday cake by Carol Antonin and a farm reminiscence followed with prayers and lunch. Mrs Hlagie a Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church member is known for cross stitch embroidery and community work.
The past week brought stormy conditions and heavy snow with little sign of spring warmth. Easter hopes dim as the pattern remains active with fluctuating temperatures and renewed cold snaps across the period.
The Rossburn Hornets Hockey Club thanks all participants organizers lunch volunteers and donors after a snowmobile derby held Sunday March 23. Ninety entries were recorded including 43 operators 6 passengers and 41 silent riders with prizes in four categories and a raffle awarding oil and ski boots.
The Linament League held its annual wind-up on a Saturday night in March with players and volunteers attending. A chili lunch and refreshments followed as awards were presented to Myron Glushka rookie of the year Leonard Mackedenski most improved player of the year and Mike Bergerman league player of the year. Mrs Bergerman was thanked for preparing the chili lunch.
The Linament League boys edged by Shoal Lake with an 8 to 3 scoreline in a Saturday match on March 15. Proceeds funded dental work for a player as spectators enjoyed the game and volunteers received thanks from players including kitchen helpers time keepers bench staff door keepers and referees.
A record of Wednesday bingo results shows a $250 jackpot won by John Leganchuk and multiple $10.00 ties among players including Adele Lukinski Emma Elvers Rose Gensorek Nick Kurchaha John Collins and Anne Slon. Additional ties reached $10.50 and $12.00 with entrants such as Mrs Livetsky Mrs Bill Tanasychuk and Mrs Chas. Brown among others.
The Oakburn Game and Fish Association hosted a Snowmobile Poker Derby on Sunday March 16. Drivers and riders participated across five check points with ten snowmobiles marking the trail. Prize winners included Ist Annette Majko and Ist Alvin Price among others.
