Rossburn Pool Elevator To Be Rebuilt

The Rossburn Pool Elevator board met on Tuesday March 19 and directed immediate construction of a new 50 000 bushel capacity elevator. Completion is set for June 1 with steel bin annexes adding 40 50 thousand bushels. Members are urged to withhold grain until completion and dividends will be issued at month end.

Rossburn Game and Fish Bingo events across March

The Rossburn Game and Fish held a March bingo at Vista Community Hall amid flu and bad weather with $10.05 raised. Thanks to Matt Halliday Sam Brown George Wilson for donations and help. Winners include Donald Kosteski Thelma Zenchyshyn Otto Elvers Emma Elvers, and several others. A second bingo occurred March 19 at Rossburn Town Hall with planning for a banquet on April 17. A meeting March 25 at the Rossburn Hotel Dining Room will discuss a Fishing Lake cabin raffle.

Rossburn Ice Carnival draws crowd with races, skits and hockey win

The Rossburn Lions Club hosted a successful Ice Carnival on a Saturday night. Winners were named in preschool, 6 to 10, and 10 to 14 age groups across girls and boys costumes, with numerous honorable mentions. The program included a Tug of War, figure skating by Erickson club, and a Lions versus Tom Thumbs hockey game ending 4-3.

Crows Sighted Near Birdsall School Report

Bill Bereza reported seeing crows on March 20 near Birdsall School. As warm weather arrived March 21 the birds were back on schedule.

Rossburn Mixed Bon Spiel crowns winners in curling event

The Rossburn Mixed Bonspiel ended Thursday evening with 40 rinks. Grand Challenge winners were Alex Cleland Rossburn first and Orest Smyennik Rossburn second. Club event saw Norm Major Rossburn take first and Don Stitt Rossburn fourth. Don Stitt rink won a car robe in the prize draw. curling meeting planned for Monday night.

Newspap er Bingo for Fishing Lake Project Proceeds

A newspaper bingo game begins to raise funds for the Fishing Lake project. Proceeds will support the community effort and spur local improvements. Local organizers urge participation and note the event runs through the issue date.

Michael Koroscil Dies Suddenly at 41 in Manitoba

Michael Koroscil aged 41 died suddenly in Winnipeg on March 1. Born in McCreary he lived in Elphinstone and Birtle district. He worked 12 years at Manitoba Hydro and is survived by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Prayers were held March 3 at Rae's Funeral Home, with funeral March 4 at 10:30 a.m. Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Solsgirth. Interment in Birtle Cemetery.

Village of Rossburn council meeting March 19 1963

The Village of Rossburn council met March 19 in the council chambers with Mayor J G Stitt and four councillors present. Minutes and financial reports were adopted, the constable's report approved, and Stitt and Antonin appointed voting delegate and alternate for the UMA and Urban Association convention April 2 3 1963. The council approved bills totaling 2834 32 and adjourned to April 16 1963.

Grandma Stitt Celebrates 96th Birthday Open House

Grandma Stitt marked her 96th birthday on March 18 as friends and relatives attended an Open House. Lottie organized the gathering with tea and good wishes, and Mrs. Stitt expressed gratitude for flowers cards and gifts, especially to E H H for his annual poetic treasure.

4-H Club News at Birtle Bonspiel

Five rinks of 4-H Sewing and Calf Club joined the 4-H Bonspiel in Birtle on March 2. Skips included Gloria Kostesky and Marlene Crook shanks. Demonstrations covered Party Aprons, Plastic Kraft, and Rule Your Waves. Profits of 30.75 go to 4H Crests.

Hog housing tour set for Minnedosa area

A tour of three prominent hog housing arrangements in the Minnedosa area will be held on Wednesday March 27. D. S. Stevenson will be present. The group meets at 8 30 am at the Agricultural Office Shoal Lake. Local transportation must be arranged. 4 H public speaking final results Strathclair March 15 winners named and the Hamiota Shoal Lake final scheduled for April 11 in Shoal Lake. The top three speakers from each competition will compete.
