Rossburn Carnival Draws Large Crowd In Memorial Arena
A Saturday crowd filled the Memorial Sports Arena for the Rossburn Carnival on March 13. Skaters tested tricks, costumed acts paraded, Brandon Club figure skaters impressed, and Ann Berehulka was crowned queen. Winners and prize lists fill the page along with gate receipts of 236.67 and carnival ticket sales of 318.00. A birthday gathering honored Mrs. J J Stitt with cards, gifts, and a family reunion.

Rossburn 4-H Curling Bonspiel Highlights Winners
The Rossburn 4-H Club hosted a curling bonspiel on Saturday March 13 featuring four rinks from Rossburn and two from Vista ing. Skips included Yvonne Carson Leona Hutton Allan Boychvyk Kenneth Caldwell Gerald Brown and Eddie Carson. In the Grand Challenge first place went to Eddie Carson and second to Leona Hutton. Consolation second went to Yvonne Carson. Landh was served by the club members.

Bert Mitchell was elected President and Mike Sotas Vice-President. Fred M Hodgkinson was named Manager of the Rossburn Consumers Cooperative with an office at the Co op Store.

New Grandstand Planned for Rossburn Fair Grounds
Rossburn Agricultural Society met on March 10 with few members. Prize lists for 1954 were revised including no mileage limit for exhibitors and higher prizes in some sections. Directors shifted sections and a Dairy Cattle division was added. Highlight was plans for a 40 foot grandstand to enlarge the fair.

Islay School Chatter Auction Aids Fret Saw Work
Islay Junior room held an auction sale on March 11 with Leonard Bilinski and Mike Klym as auctioneers and Ray Brown recording. About $4.50 was realized for paint to be used on fret saw projects. Nicholas Wolski aged 73 years 11 months died March 8 at St Rose Hospital. Born in Poland he and wife settled in Rossburn in 1903 farming east of town. Survived by wife three daughters Jean Thougarrd Kelwood Mary Pollock Marjorie Winnipeg and two sons Alex Winnipeg Joe Brandon. Funeral at St Theresa Church Brandon burial in family plot.
