George C Gibbs dies after long illness at home
A large crowd gathers at United Church on March 17 to honor George Charles Gibbs who died March 12 after a lengthy illness. Born in Toronto March 5 1881 he moved to Manitoba and later Silver Creek Silverton and Angusville. Survived by widow Mabel Westlake two sons Lloyd Harry and Edward and a half sister Mrs Townsend. He married in April 1920.

Lee Wheat Recommends Lead in Rust Tolerance
Lee wheat shows greater resistance to stem rust in the 1953 Regional Variety Tests at Regina. Two mid June seedings yielded Selkirk 26 bushels per acre, Lee 21, Thatcher 12 with Redman near Lee and Rescue and Chinook just above Thatcher. Earlier tests in the Cooperative Wheat Test placed Selkirk first, Lee 11th, Redman 19th, Thatcher 25th. before 1952 Lee and Thatcher tied in yield.
