Chamber of Commerce To Re organize Friday

An open meeting will be held in the Rossburn Legion Hall on Friday evening March 16 at 8 p.m. to re organize a local Chamber of Commerce. If attended by all who claim interest it would be an important forum of local public opinion.

Cleland Rink Tops Club Bonspiel

Cleland Rink wins the club bonspiel after a lengthy winter event halted by heavy snow. prize winners include Cleland in first, S Madantuk in second, M Smyoniuk third, R Irwin fourth. Consolation prizes go to M Chemica and M Prokropany with other placements noted.

Islay School Charter report recaps March dance and events

The Islay School Student Council hosted a successful March 9 dance, raising 122 dollars. Door prizes went to Wray Palmer and Shirley Belinski. Mrs. Lusky hosted a toboggan party for grade V with Miss Hay’s pupils. Bobby Hamilton and Georgina Brown Meto are noted back after illness. Bobby Hamilton won the Ping Pong tournament and Florence Brown the Consolation event. High School squads recently entered several bonspiels, returning with prizes from Angusville. Inspector Labo echool this week. Bobby asks if someone is working. Jessere visited the by everybody's.

Expansion plans seek broader hospital services and new lab

Funeral Rites Held For Stephen Pawluk

Funeral services for Stephen Pawluk age 73 who died March 9 in Victoria Hospital Winnipeg were held at Mohyla Greek Catholic Church on Tuesday March 13 Rev E Clyne officiating He was born in the Ukraine and after serving in the Austrian Army came to Canada in 1905 working in Railway Construction across western Canada He married Jennie Kamnski two years later and lived in the Mears District farming until retiring to Winnipeg in 1950 Surviving are his widow five sons Alex Walter Charles Michael and Daniel two daughters Ann and Margaret two brothers John and Harry and 17 grandchildren Pallbearers were his five sons and son-in-law M Halowski.

Muskrat trapping season opens March 15 in southern Manitoba

The muskrat trapping season in southern Manitoba runs from March 15 to April 24, both days inclusive. Only holders of Registered Trapline Permits may trap in the extended R. T. L. Districts, now including the Porcupine Mountains as well as the Swan Lake Camperville Waterhen and Crane Rivers areas, announced by Minister C. C. Greenlay.

Vista WI March Meeting Brings 14 Members and 2 Visitors

The Vista W. L regular meeting on March 8 at Mrs. Jessie Mackedenski's home drew 14 members and 2 visitors amid travel woes. Delegates to the District Convention in Roblin were Mrs. Nettie Hrysak and Mrs. Willma Nichol. Donations of 5 dollars each were sent to the March of Dimes and the Red Cross. Members were asked to bring old woolens, white or dark, to the next meeting. Miss Margaret Hay gave an engaging talk on her trip to Europe. Lunch was provided by hostesses Mrs. Steffie Belinski and Mrs. Jessie Mackedenski. The April 12 meeting will be at Mrs. Mary Stitt's home with hosts Mrs. Ruth Rogers and Mrs. Mary Stitt.
