Russell Rinks Top Two In Local Bonspiel
The Rossburn Men’s Bonspiel ended Tuesday night with Doug Joiner’s rink winning the Clement Trophy, Rod Clement’s rink taking the Macleods trophy, and Frank Keller’s rink earning the Curling Club trophy. Eight rinks came from Angusville, seven from Vista, two from Rusgell and Shoal Lake, plus one from Binscarth, with 22 Rossburn rinks participating. Local Creamery Excels in National and Regional Exhibitions
The Manitoba Dairy & Poultry Co op Ltd. of Rossburn won a 1st prize at Brandon Exhibition, four 2nds at the CNE Toronto, one 1st and three 2nds at the Toronto Royal, plus a 2nd for prints and a 3rd for solids at the Winnipeg convention. Buttermaker Tony Yuskow earned several other prizes for workmanship.

Obituary: Mr Hector MacPhail 80 in Geraldton Ontario
Mr Hector MacPhail aged 80 of Geraldton Ontario died suddenly at Geraldton Hospital on Thursday March 4 1965. Born in County Gray he farmed at Rossburn Manitoba from 1906 before moving to Geraldton in 1946. He belonged to St Andrews Presbyterian Church Geraldton. Survived by two sons Archie of Geraldton Neil of Atikokan and daughter Mary Mrs Doucet of Hamilton plus ten relatives. He was predeceased by his wife in Rossburn. Funeral services were held Saturday March 6 at 2:00 pm at St Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev W Mac Odrum officiating and burial in Pine Grove Cemetery Geraldton.

Rossburn Rural Council Meeting Minutes 1965
The Rossburn Rural Municipality council met March 9 1965 in the council chambers with Reeve Alex Cleland and Councillors Morley Brown Mike Gawryluk and Joe Dnistransky present. Minutes were read and adopted. An arbitrator was appointed over local district dissolutions and tax sale set for May 1 1965 at 2 PM. last month’s bills totaled 9008 49 and next meeting is April 13 1965 at 1 PM.

Peily Trail Voters Approve By Law Addition and High School
Peily Trail voters approved a two-project by law in the Pelly Trail School Division on March 9 by 1376 to 1009. The plan includes a 7 room addition at Russell and a new high school at Rossburn, with total costs projected at 423,569 dollars including Indian Affairs participation. The Rossburn vote carried by a large margin, turnout was 5679 of 16009 in 1959. Building plans will be finalized and tenders called after the third reading, with architects Pratt & Lindgren in Angusville.

Oakburn Annual Bonspiel Results and Winners
The Oakburn Curling Club's annual bonspiel ran Feb 22 to March 5 with 35 rinks. Wesley Sametz defeated Jerry Matiation in the Grand Challenge final for the title and J W Smith Memorial Trophy was presented by Mrs. Margaret Smith. Prize winners include Grand Challenge Ist Wesley Sametz Oakburn and Citizens Ist Mike Tutkaluk Oakburn with multiple Oakburn entrants in top places. Teams from Rossburn Vista Selsgirth Shoal Lake and Sandy Lake participated and club thanks extend to neighboring clubs and donors.

United Church Women Meet at Vista UCW Session
The Vista United Church Women held a regular Wednesday meeting at Mrs. Harvey Hamilton's home with nine members and four visitors. Devotional centered on Cowardice. They prepared for World Day of Prayer and sent $5 to United College building fund. Plans were made to obtain slides from Mrs. Freedman for a mission study. next meeting will be held in the school in an evening date to be set. Mrs. Thompson to lead devotional. meeting closed with benediction and lunch.
