The Pelly Trail School Division Board presents a human view of rising enrollment from 1959 to 1965. Grade IX up 68 percent, Grade XII almost doubled, and 95 percent of Grade VIII use transportation to attend high school. Despite growth, overcrowding, more teachers, and new classrooms are needed. the board seeks March 9 support for a building program to add classrooms, laboratories, and libraries.
A Well Baby Clinic will be held at the Health Unit office on March 11 from 1 30 to 3 30 p m.
Rossburn Women's Institute met in the annex on Tuesday March 2 at 3 00 p m. The group opened with O Canada and the Creed and conducted routine business. They planned a donation to the Retarded Children's School at Shoal Lake and to send books to Winnipeg to be sold while funds go to the Children's Hospital.
A community Gala Mardi Gras Ice Carnival is set for Saturday March 13 at Rossburn Memorial Arena. The program features a Miss Pat Carr directed figure skating display, costume judging, speed skating for all ages, under-15 bicycle race, a Ladies Broomball game, a Schmookey All-Stars vs locals game, and Moccasin Dancing with free masks and festive decorations. Local enthusiasm promises one of Rossburn’s best figure skating exhibitions.
A Bantam AB Hockey tournament will be held here Saturday with Angusville Binscarth Rossburn and likely Russell taking part. First game starts at 10:00 a.m. Come out and enjoy some good hockey.
Loretta Hrysak led a rink to first in the second event at the Russell Bonspiel last Saturday with Cecelia Kambietz Gloria Kestesky and Cheryl Scarrow as teammates. They received individual trophies as Mar laine Brown’s rink took second in the same event. Collegiate activities ease as Easter exams approach with March 25 start. students aim to raise past marks.
