A Thursday issued notice from the Rossburn office bearing the name H J Rowley publisher and authorizing as second class mail post office department Ottawa indicates official postal status and office location Victoria Ave Victoria Street.
The local mixed bonspiel concluded satisfactorily though the Grand Aggregate prize of four Hudson Bay blankets was withdrawn by the Ladies bonspiel committee and sold to J Lindsay’s rink, whose donation to the hospital funded the boys’ bonspiel. Winners include Grand Challenge Murray Cormack first and Don Stitt second.
At its March 1 meeting the Rossburn District Board of Trade adopted a new Constitution and elected officers for the year. Executive President Earl Moffat. secretary treasurer N Major. vice president Bert Mitchell. executive committee members N Toland E Strong Cpl. F Murray. auditor N Karmazenuk. committee chairmen D Lysaichuk J G Stitt J Huston Glushka J Von Hagen. Two more members to be appointed to each committee.
Mrs Viola Peden spent the weekend at Oakburn with her mother and daughter Sandra. J Pradinnk ill ship livestock and fox horses from Birdtail and Rossburn on March 15. J Lindsay curling rink donated four blankets to the hospital. Dennis Hamilton injured his ankle downtown Saturday evening. Mrs Fred Plante and Fay visit Dorothy Miller in Forrest. Mr Wm Butler relieves postmaster at Mears as Frank Butler away in Brandon. Chas Bell of Shoal Lake visits fur ranch. York Bros busy sawing wood in the Valley. WI held March 4 meeting at Mrs Sara Crookshanks. Mrs Horace Carson visiting Alex Clelands. Mrs Walter Day relieving nurse for Mrs Neable. James Armstrong and Bud visited town. Armstrong's visit to Clear Lake. Mrs David Maxwell visiting Harris Houston. Mrs J S Huston returned home after week with her son.
The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Aid of Oakburn United Church was held at Mrs. D. A. Menzies home on Thursday afternoon March 4. A lunch was served. The next meeting is set for April 1 at Mrs. Geo. Menzies home.
Mrs. Robert Peden of Rossburn visited Mrs. D A Menzies for a few days. John Kolody of the Rogers district lost his home and contents to a fire caused by distillate ignition with no insurance. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Letter and son Bob of Russell were weekend guests at Harold J Brown’s home. Tony Gerelus and Cornelius Sawchuk of Winnipeg visited Tony’s parents S P Gerelus for a couple of days.
A business trip to the district is reported. Mrs C Strong remains in Rossburn hospital after a fall on ice while curling. Nick Hubenski, an elder district resident, lost his house and contents to fire last week. Wm Tenasychuk becomes Birdtail postmaster and will take over next month after purchasing the store. Charlie Kolosky is ill in hospital while employed by Fairbanks Morse Co Winnipeg. Lorne Plante and wife welcome baby boy christened Dicky Roy at Ranchville church last Sunday.
Mr and Mrs C Brown and family Mrs Crookshanks and Mervin visited Mr and Mrs Alex Cleland and family on Sunday. A speedy recovery is wished for Mr Glen Smith in the local hospital. Mrs Smith visits her parents. Mrs H Miller returned from the coast. Mr Gordon Ament visited town en route to Russell to see his wife and infant son at Sacred Heart hospital.
Mrs Wilfred Chegwin returned home from Rossburn hospital on Wednesday. Mike Zenchesion also came home after an appendix operation at Rossburn hospital. Mrs RJ Alexander returned home after visiting in Vancouver and Princeton BC. Lorne Hrysack came home from Rossburn hospital last Tuesday. The moccasin dance on March 5 was a success with everyone enjoying themselves. Mike Waytowich spent Saturday with friends at Oakburn. Miss Helen Miller spent the weekend with Miss Milred Chegush.
The Angusville United church Ladies' Aid sponsors a St Patrick's social in the church on March 16 at 8 o'clock. A good program and lunch are planned, with prices listed on posters.
Mrs G Ament announces the birth of a son named Don Gordon on February 28. She thanks the doctor hospital staff and friends for their thoughtful remembrance during their stay. Signed Jucille Stitt and Marrian Johnson.
After dispute and confusion over the Grand Aggregate in the mixed bonspiel, the Ladies' Curling Club executive decided to withdraw the prize, citing controversy and misunderstanding surrounding the event.

Mary McNair died at the Brandon home of her nephew John McNair where she had moved last fall with her brother the Rev John McNair. Deepest sympathy is extended.
The school hosts a well attended card party with proceeds going to the Save the Children Fund. John Chaytor arrives home last week from holidays in Winnipeg and Regina.
The friends of Mrs. Margaret Flynn wish her a speedy recovery after being fined to the house for a couple of weeks.
