The Rossburn mixed bonspiel enters its final week with teams listed by skips and participants. Results and prize winners will be published in the next issue as teams vie for top honours in this ongoing curling event.
In 1947 Montcalm, a new malting barley variety, performed well in the National Barley Contest. Alberta’s provincial winner was a carload Montcalm grown by J W Bussey, Airdrie, with Saskatchewan placing Montcalm fourth. O A C 21 dominated most top spots. Manitoba regional results follow March 22 with interprovincial prizes decided at Brandon during the week of April 5-9. The top prize is $1,000.
Mr. Fred Crispin who has been in Winnipeg hospital returned to the local hospital. Wednesday accompanied by Ernest Crispin. Mr. and Mrs. A. Joiner and family spent Sunday in town. Mrs. Nick Kamaryanuk left on Thursday for Winnipeg to visit her sister who is ill. Ellwood Alexander spent to weekend at his home here. Dennis Creokshanks spent S.11day with Mr. and Mrs. C. Brown and family.
A speedy recovery is wished for Mrs. T Mitchell and Miss Marrian Johnson with others in hospital. Mr H Taylor reported seeing goplies on a snow bank. Mr and Mrs C Palmer and family visited Mrs Sara Crookshanks. Margaret McLennan of Russell spent the past week with Lorraine Alexander.
A number of our bachelors were presented with rings and corsages at the Leap Year dance Friday night. The Community Council meeting planned for Thursday March 4 has been postponed for two weeks and a definite date will be announced later.
The report notes a dainty luncheon preceding the departure. Percy left Thursday for Winnipeg where he has accepted a job as a meat inspector.

Alice Irene Soder of Elkhorn Manitoba married Clifford A. Stitt son of Mr and Mrs Wilson Stitt of Rossburn Manitoba on February 7 1948. Rev C Finnimore officiated with Weldon McIntosh as best man and Mrs McIntosh as matron of honor. A reception followed at 923 Walford St Lulu Island Vancouver. They will reside at 996 Charles St Lulu Island Vancouver BC.

The Vista Ladies Aid hosted a birthday party for Mrs. O Miller on Saturday February 2. Mike Zendeseon is recovering from an appendix operation at Rossburn hospital and well wishes are sent for a speedy recovery. Mr and Mrs Pete Strankie returned home from Winnipeg last week.
