Four-Team Intermediate Hockey Turmoil At Rossburn Arena
A four team Intermediate Hockey Tournament will be held in the Rossburn Arena this Saturday March 12 with Decker Rossburn Wayway Seecappo and a fourth team to be named Thursday. Don Stitt returns in goal as local fans celebrate his return from injury. RCMP barracks in Rossburn near completion with official handover set for March 15 by contractor Harry Komhy. The two storey brick veneer building houses living quarters offices and storage with an oil fired furnace and attached garage.

Two High School Rinks Compete In Bonspiel Results
Russburn High School teams led by Tom Carson and Calvin Brown competed in a two event bonspiel. Carson’s rink placed 3rd in the second event while Brown’s rink faced Gordon Crookshanks’ rink in the Grand Challenge final. Other prizes went to Keith Elvers and Betty Ann Clubley with Myrna Smycniuk and Hlagie in second and third spots respectively.

The Rossburn W A monthly meeting with 22 members opened with devotion and songs. A paint plan for the church annex was approved and a paint committee named. A thank you was given to the Brown family for a donation and bazaar plans for April were noted. The group also discussed quilt work for March 14 in the annex and welcomed Explorer Girls led by Miss Hay.

Mary Olinyk of Elphin stone Manitoba died suddenly at age 66 at her daughter’s home in Oakburn on February 29.
