Scouts and Cubs Hold Regular Meeting Notes
The 1st Rossburn Boy Scout Troop met at 8 00 p m on Wednesday February 24 with progress on proficiency badges for many scouts. Ham radio instruction continues with six current enthusiasts while sessions on Marksmen Interpreter Athletic and running broad jump tests were completed for several scouts. The basketball schedule was drawn up with five teams and a Cardin als versus Elks match noted. The 1st and 2nd Star Cub gained semaphore training while Cubmaster Fink presided over the promise salute and brief talk on Scout Week and Baden Powell.

Pokrapany rink wins Rossburn Men’s Curling Bonnspiel
Champions of the Rossburn Men's Curling Club local Spiel were the Pokrapany rink who defeated the Alex Cleland rink in the final. Bill Joiner edged out Doug Joiner in the Consol ation Event final. ANGUSVILLE MIXED SPIEL This week 11 local rinks are participating in the Angusville Mixed Spiel which has attracted 34 entries. Two local rinks are curling at Oak burn in their annual Spiel. Next week it is the Rossburn Men's Open Bonspiel starting on Monday, March 1st. Attending the Trucker's Bonspiel in Winnipeg were Orest Smycniuk, Bill McKietiuk, Elwyn McFeeters and Colin Stewart of Lac du Bonnet. No prizes to report. PLUMBERS BONSPIEL G. Ament, L. Sladek, G. Hermann and C. Hille curled.

Plans are finalized for Rossburns Annual Ice Carnival on Saturday March 13. The figure skaters under Miss Pat Carr have trained long and the group, now 22 strong, promises fine entertainment with new and novel items.

Mrs Rose Mychalyshyn Rites Held In Oakburn
Rose Mychalyshyn 62 of Oakburn died February 4 at Winnipeg General Hospital. Prayers were held February 7 at Oakburn Hall. Interment at church cemetery. Born in Tremboli Ukraine she came to Canada in 1907. Survived by husband Joe four sons one daughter one brother one sister and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers named. Raginski Funeral Home Oakburn in charge.

The Rossburn 4-H public speaking eliminations for ages 12 to 13 were held Tuesday night with judges Miss J Renwick Miss P Carr and Mr Erickson. Sewing Club speakers included Janneth Johnston Theresa Sawchuk Calf Club speakers included Larry Huston Russell Andrew and Grant Armstrong with Johnston and Andrew chosen for further competition.

Rossburn Collegiate Teams and Events Highlight Spring Sports
Rossburn Collegiate sends two girls to represent in the Russell Girls Bonspiel this Saturday while the boys from Major Pratt Collegiate compete to represent the Pelly Trail Division in the basketball zone playoffs on March 6 in Russell. The Rossburn team earned a commendable second place in the division and the student body praises the players and coach Mr Kalechyn for their dedication. Organizers plan a Friday dance and invite attendance.
