Red Cross Campaign Sets Manitoba Quota At 353200
On March 2 Manitoba volunteers began canvassing homes and businesses to raise a minimum of 353200 for the Canadian Red Cross Society annual appeal. The Manitoba Red Cross Centre notes 1952 activity increased in hospital transfusions, loans of sick room equipment, junior membership and veteran support, underscoring expanding services and the need to sustain relief at home and abroad.

Village Council Holds Regular Meeting in Rossburn
The Rossburn village council met February 17, 1953 with all members present. One building permit was approved. Dr James McCartan was appointed health officer. A ditching grant application was approved. Oil for village streets was requested from the Municipal Highway Engineer. A petition for better mail service was supported. Bills were approved and the meeting adjourned to March 17 at 8 p.m.

Rossburn Bantam BBs Win Overtime Thriller Over Hamiota
Rossburn Bantam BBs defeated Hamiota in a ten minute overtime to win the total goal series 10-8 after a 5-4 end of regulation. Barrie Mitchell Delroy Stitt Mervyn Michalyshyn and W Zimrmer scored for Rossburn with Mathewson Bailey Jasper and King replying for Hamiota. Rossburn advances to face Neewawa in the fourth round with games set for March 9 and March 12 at Rossburn and Neepawa respectively.

Long Plains Defeat Rossburn In Hockey Battle At Memorial Arena
The Long Plains Indian hockey team beat a combined Rossburn lineup 4-2 at Rossburn Memorial Arena on Thursday night in a hard fought game. Hughie Peters scored twice for Long Plains with other goals by Peters and Bruce Benn. Two penalties were called in the third period and a return game is planned for Friday March 6th.
