Jack Lindsay Wins Rossburn Curling Bonspiel Undefeated
Jack Lindsay’s foursome remains unbeaten to claim top honors at the Rossburn Curling Club Bonspiel ending March 6. Lindsay defeated Maurice Chomica in the Grand Challenge final to win the Cleland and Irwin Trophy and four mini trophies. Norman Major’s team won the Consolation with Lindsay taking the Norman Major Trophy in the Rossburn Club Event after beating Alex Cleland.

The Angus High School Bonspiel drew ten rinks from Russell Oakburn Roblin Angusville and Binscarth on Saturday February 28. Winners included grand champions from Binscarth and Angusville with prizes of curls and boxes while consolation prizes went to Russell and Angusville skaters.

Voting for the Rossburn Carnival Queen on Saturday March 14th is slow with seven contestants from seven Rossburn School rooms. Through March 6th 380 votes were sold, led by Jean Melnyk from room 5, with close standings among Muriel Lazaruk Greta Williamson Judy Huston Vivian Cleland Josephine Semenuk and Helen Kozun. The event features public skating at 7:30 pm a costume judging a one hour Birtle Figure Skating Club show coronation and races concluding the program at the Rossburn Memorial Sports Arena.

Neepawa Bantams Triumph 12 5 In Openers Of Two Game Series
Neepawa Bantams blasted Rossburn 12 to 5 at Rossburn Memorial Arena in the first game of a two match total goal series on Monday night March 9. Neepawa led 5-1 after the first period and 11-2 at the end of the second with Rossburn’s Paul Mamaluga scoring unassisted at 2:42 of the second. Mike Melnyk, Delroy Stitt and others contributed to the late rally as Neepawa clinched the win. The second game is set for Neepawa on Thursday March 12 with limited car-space noted.

The Hospital Aid Benspiel entry deadline is Friday noon March 13. All curling club members are entered unless they withdraw by signing the rink or Post Office lists. Non members wishing to curl must also sign one of these lists. Remember the deadline Friday noon.
Rossburn Creamery Wins Best Kept In Manitoba 1952
Rossburn Creamery managed by R N Hutton won first prize for the best kept creamery in Manitoba in 1952 and will hold the Shield from Manitoba and Winnipeg Cold Storage Co for one year. Last year they won first in the district and second in the province.

Florence Brown Crowned Vista Carnival Queen in Ice Parade
Despite cold weather a large Vista crowd attended the carnival on Friday March 6. Florence Brown won the queen contest after costume judging, crowned by Mr. Alston, with Georgina Brown and Betty Mackedenski as princesses. Proceeds from ticket sales totaled 320 dollars. lucky prizewinners included Dwight Brown Cranbrook and Andrew Belinski Vista.
