About one hundred residents from Rossburn Village and RM support purchasing improved fire equipment with over ninety percent voting for the plan. A volunteer committee, to explore funding by taxation or other means, was formed and will report at a future ratepayers meeting.

Club Bonspiel To Commence March 2
The annual Rossburn Curling Club bonspiel opens Monday March 2 with two open events and a consolation. Entry is 1.00 per rink, 25 cents per member. non members barred. Twenty one club rinks are entered unless they sign to the contrary. Play starts 9 15 a m daily with prizes for each event.

Rossburn and Hamiota battled in an exhibition hockey game at Memorial Arena on February 18. The Singles edged the Oldsters 7-6 in a tight, hard fought contest. Chesney of Rossburn suffered a chest injury and will be sidelined for the season. Hospital Aid Bonspiel Set to Start March 16
The Hospital Aid will sponsor a Bonspiel in Rossburn starting Monday March 16. All curling club members are entered unless withdrawn from the rink list. Non-members may join by phoning 44 4 or 91 3. Entry fee is 50 cents for members and 75 cents for non-members.

Oakburn School Spiel Showcases 16 Rinks Across Manitoba Towns
A two day high school bonspiel at Oakburn Rink on February 20 and 21 drew sixteen rinks from Angusville Rossburn Elphinstone Strathclair Shoal Lake Sandy Lake and Oakburn. Winners included Gordon Grieve Shoal Lake first in Grand Challenge and Don Findlay Shoal Lake top in First Event with several Oakburn teams placing in top fours. Prizes ranged from oil and antifreeze to cups saucers and commemorative items donated by local merchants and schools.
