Manitoba Hydro rights of way guide: farming, leases, and shore uses
Manitoba Hydro promotes use of transmission line rights of way and shoreline lands for approved purposes. In farming districts adjacent landowners may farm the right of way while they own adjacent property. If the adjacent land is sold, the new owner must lease with Hydro to continue farming. Urban areas allow leases for parking, storage, driveways, tennis courts and recreation. Shoreline lands permit limited use for docks and boathouses but not inhabited structures. Disaster drill at Rossburn Health Centre trains several agencies
An emergency disaster exercise at Rossburn District Health Centre simulated a propane tank explosion at Rossburn Collegiate. Students were made up as victims and transported by ambulance to the centre. The drill included Rossburn Ambulance, Fire Department, RCMP and the Health Centre Auxiliary under Manitoba Emergency Health Services.

Rossburn RM holds lengthy February council meeting
The RM of Rossburn reconvened February 21 after a long Feb 13 session presided by Reeve John Mitchell to approve the 1983 unaudited financial statement, January 1984 financials, and several 1984 by laws for council remuneration wages and the secretary treasurer. It plans six Summer Canada Student Employment positions, approves burying cable with conditions, and calls for gravel tenders to 15 000 yards with an August 1 finish and $25 daily penalty for delays. It notes sick leave credits for two employees, sponsors a Centennial pancake breakfast, and adjusts the Group Insurance Program values by five percent. Also accepts the 1984 Shoal Lake Veterinary Clinic budget and increases the library budget and municipal contribution.

Shrove Tuesday Festivities Set at Rossburn Arena
Rossburn Skating Arena hosts Shrove Tuesday on March 6 with races for all ages starting at 4 30 PM followed by a pancake supper. Prizes, traditional English pancakes, and desserts will be served. admission is 1 50 for adults and 1 for children under twelve.
