Manitoba Habitat Heritage Program launches for wildlife
Manitoba announces a new Habitat Heritage Program with about 1.5 million dollars over four years to curb habitat loss in southern Manitoba. Resources Minister Al Mackling notes annual woodland and wetland losses and declines in deer and duck populations by 2000. The program will use leases, habitat easements, waterfowl and deer habitat projects, fish ladders, stocking, and riparian work. A Public Advisory Board will review projects and private donations are welcome to fund habitat protection efforts.

Club 200 Draw Winners Named for Rossburn Area
Big winner Brian Chegwin of Vista and Doug Joiner of Rossburn each won $500 in the Rossburn Agricultural Society Club 200 draw. Lorne Lawless conducted the draw on Friday February 10. A $50 winner was Dwayne Swintak. New Club 200 tickets are now sold at the Municipal Office and through Society members. You can’t win if you don’t buy to support the local Agricultural Society.

Rossburn Village Council Meets in Regular Session
The Village of Rossburn Council met in the council chambers on Tuesday February 14 with Mayor Louis Kurchaba and Councillors Kalyniuk Hunter and Caldwell present. They approved minutes, acknowledged a liquor hours change letter, authorized attendance at the Municipal Officials Seminar, set pay for Rossburn District Health Centre Board appointees, accepted correspondence, noted funding to the Rossburn Agricultural Society, studied a house numbering system, and discussed storefront improvements. They accepted the December 31 1983 financial statement, planned Centennial Grant and Summer Canada Works projects, allocated 2000 for a Centennial Trailer Park, invited Lions Club labor, invited Main Street Manitoba Program planning, solicited a Village of Rossburn logo design, approved payments totaling 33944.92, and adjourned to March 1.
