Eighties Rival Dirty Thirties For Driest Prairie Era
Environment Canada scientists in Winnipeg say the present decade may rival the dirty thirties as the driest period in western Canada. Meteorologists Tim Guezen and Rick Raddatz found the thirties slightly drier, but the margin is small. Data from nine Prairie stations measured precipitation shortfalls and area impact, with 1988 and 1989 forecasts affecting the comparison.

Doctors join Rossburn Medical Centre in 1988
The Rossburn District Health Centre Board with Rural Medical Services announces Dr. Frank Vatchewer and Dr. Annabelle Gameiro will move to Rossburn to start practice at the Rossburn Medical Centre on September 1, 1988. They will marry in Winnipeg on August 6, 1988 and residents are asked to welcome them and support their social and professional lives.
