Village of Rossburn Defers Parkland Regional Membership
The Village of Rossburn defers joining Parkland Regional Development Inc for 1988 due to regional geography. At a May 25 council meeting, bylaw 85-684 allows adding uncollectible water accounts to landlords' property taxes. Council approved interior arena painting by Crafts Men Painting for 2225 and possibly 3712 for two coats. A steel insulated museum door was approved for 387.50 from Monarch Building Supplies. A special meeting on May 27 approved 1825 for exhaust fan and duct work at the community hall by New Era Plumbing & Heating Ltd. Deputy Mayor Kalyniuk chaired with Councillors Hunter and Caldwell present.

Rossburn Collegiate awards honor 17 students in format
Rossburn Collegiate held its annual awards program on June 16 recognizing 17 categories. Winners include Lisa Balan and Lorianne Bartkin for academics, Chris Peart for math and multiple MVPs, Janelle McFeeters and Cheryl Joiner among others, with titles from Athlete of the Year to Ukrainian Language award recipients.

Prairie heat wave shatters regional records
Environment Canada reports a May 27 heat wave that shattered regional temperature records and expanded over a wider area than previous events. Winnipeg led with the first 30 C reading as southern Manitoba and southeastern locations also surpassed previous highs.
