All Home Print Review Expands Local Coverage

Rossburn Review plans a four page local edition replacing the two page format. A new 12 by 26 foot office addition is planned to handle increased pressroom space. The first issue with the expanded format will publish July 22 after the Manitoba Newspaper Convention in Winnipeg July 15 16, inviting cooperation from advertisers readers and the public.

Clean-Up Bee Planned After July 4 Cleanup

Community volunteers worked at Stuart's Lake last Thursday and Saturday to improve the area. Another cleanup is scheduled for Thursday and Saturday this week with an official date of Sunday July 4. Watch for notices with further details.

Mr Nathan Unickow and Mr Michael Mychalyshyn were business visitors in Winnipeg last week. Mr and Mrs Stanley Anton and family attended Olga Teresko's wedding in Brandon last Sunday. Mrs Ross of Moose Jaw visited with daughter-in-law Mrs Mary Ross and grandchildren. Lake Audy becomes a popular Sunday rendezvous for Oakburn residents with fishing and eateries attracting attention.

Rossburn Co-Op Holds Annual Meeting

The Rossburn Consumers Co-op held its annual meeting in the Town Hall on Tuesday June 15 with about seventy members attending. Art Benge of Manitoba Co-operative Wholesale Ltd reviewed the financial statement showing sales of 825,558.98 for the year, up 40 percent from the previous year. Membership stood at 307, up from 245. Directors President and Manager reports were reviewed and the group aimed for a 100,000 turnover with strict 30 day credit. Lunch and ice cream capped the evening.

Vista Girl Weds In Winnipeg

A wedding solemnized at Young United Church Winnipeg on Saturday evening June 12 united Wilma Mae Alexander and Dak Franklin Atkinson. Bride wore ivory satin dress with fitted bodice buttons and train. Matron of honor Pauline Greenway and bridesmaid Muriel Alexander wore blue tones. Groom attended by Don Reid with ushers Peter Greenway Gordon Bissett. Reception at St James Hall followed by honeymoon at Banff and points west.

Field Day Trophy Decided by Points Per Competitor

The Field Day trophy was awarded based on total points divided by the number of competitors. This scoring method produced a final per capita score that determined the winner and settled disputes over how the final result was obtained.

Sudden Death Shocks Rossburn Community

Ward Shaver, a 24 year old born in Winnipeg November 20 1945, died Saturday June 19 at Rossburn Hospital after moving to Rossburn in 1946. A funeral was held in Winnipeg Tuesday June 22 as friends extend sympathy to Dr and Mrs Shaver.
