An organized canvass in Reesbarn and district seeks the remaining 10000 dollars to complete the Memorial Winter Sports Arena in Ross. Five thousand dollars is already available for the 15000 project. Authorized collectors will visit households to gather contributions and start construction by mid August if finances permit.
Residents are invited to attend a Thursday and Saturday cleanup bee for the Arrow Lakes Stuart's Lake project. The effort aims to improve beach access, gravel the road, and create a summer resort area with a dance pavilion and possible refreshment booth. Community support is urged to help finalize cottages and attract visitors.
Kathleen Kay Oryniak daughter of Mr and Mrs Sam Oryniak became the bride of Walter W Peters son of Mr and Mrs C Peters of Winnipeg at Chalmers United Church Winnipeg May 21 at 6 pm The gown ivory satin fitted bodice and lily point sleeves with orange blossoms bouquet of red roses The bride given in marriage by her father Bridesmaid Miss Vicki Rubeshowski Best man Pat Galleger reception at the Empire Steak Chateau Afterward the couple left for a motor trip to Kenora Ontario and will reside in Winnipeg where Mr Peters runs a business
Funeral service for the late Mrs Alex Orimiuk of Rossburn was held last Tuesday at Mohyla Church before burial. She died suddenly at 79 on June 6 near Rossburn. Born in Western Ukraine on March 16 1869 she came to Canada about 1904. Survived by husband four sons Toni Nick Sam Joe four daughters Margaret Reta Anne Kay.
Joseph Kennedy Prancis a former Rossburn resident and New Westminster native died June MH 1948 at age 74. Survived by wife two sons Jack and Donald one brother Alex four grandchildren. Requiem mass held in St Michael's Church Saturday at 9:00 am Father Luke celebrant. Interment St Peter's Cemetery.
Mrs. Alex Rogers of Makaroff spent a week-end with her brother in Ekford. Mrs. Ken Cameron and her baby Lloyd William returned home from Rossburn last week. Mr. Stanley Boyd and daughter Edna of Makaroff stayed with Mrs. Mary Collingridge last Sunday. Eleanor Irwin of Isabelle visited her sister Hazel in Ekford last week. Mr. Charles Whyman of Rossburn is finishing Mr. Bereza's new house.
