MPIC faces higher rates as Autopac losses mount
MPIC projects a 2.7 million loss for the next insurance year depleting reserves. Chief Bardua notes rising collision costs total 34 million of a 45 million claims rise in early 1992, with nearly 11 000 injury claims so far, up from 8 400 last year. Poor weather and driving conditions drive higher costs, prompting potential premium increases. Hearings for the 1993 rate application begin October 19 in Winnipeg. Autopac extension coverages will be announced later.
