Manitoba small business drives provincial economy says minister
Manitoba enjoys a thriving small business sector forming 97 percent of firms. Minister Maureen Hemphill cites 70 to 80 percent of new jobs come from firms with under 50 employees and less than two million dollars in sales. In 1986 there were 9,899 new registrations, a five and a half percent rise from 1985, with bankruptcies down 15 percent.
