A June 7 1978 morning program at Rossburn Collegiate Gymnasium opened with a pipe ceremony by Paul Huntinghawk and Eva McKay guiding procedures. Leaders spoke on band management misconceptions arts and survival techniques. Native dancers from Pipestone and Waywayseecappo performed Grand Entry Inter tribal Grass Dance and Women’s dances.

Growth has been retarded by strong winds and cool temperatures. Thundershowers occurred but rainfall was light. Temperatures ranged from 58 to 83 with notable cool nights. This week last year’s high was 81 and low 43.
Federal provincial deal hikes waterfowl crop compensation
Provinces and the federal government reached an agreement to raise migratory waterfowl crop damage compensation from 25 to 50 dollars per acre. Costs will be shared equally, with remaining details to be finalized. Minister Ken MacMaster announced the move.

The Wheat Board Advisory Committee met June 5 1978 with ten members two commissioners in attendance and staff. Grain totals show producers at 19 040 000 tonnes versus 16 861 000 a year ago while apors giail grains reach 16 228 000 tonnes up from 14 138 000 last crop year near all time records. The transport problem labeled a mess is blamed on railroads as other grain sectors improve efficiency.
