The 1978 Budget of the Village of Rossburn was approved by the Department of Municipal Affairs Municipal Budget and Finance Branch as follows.
Readings show frost reports Friday and Saturday morning while Monday saw record warmth with gusty west winds and 85 degrees. Thunderstorms Monday evening cooled the day, as temperatures fluctuated between the 30s and 80s across the period with notable swings from week to week.
Rossburn Golf Club held its 1978 Spring Tournament at the Rossman Lake Course on June 3 and 4. Seventy four men and twenty four women entered for a total of 94 golfers with entrants from Calgary and local clubs. Winners included Joe Laxdal of Binscarth in the Championship Flight and Sylvia Brown of Rossburn in the Ladies First Flight. Special thanks were given to Rossburn Credit Union and Rossburn Electric for prize donations.
Rossman Lake Camporee ends its eighth run with a total of 474 participants including Cubs Scouts Venturers and Rovers. Cub registration reached 171 with Jason Kurchaba winning top honors, as new Cubs and Scouts programs boosted turnout and a Court of Honor named Order of the Tomahawk surprised attendees. The event featured a muddy obstacle course and nature hikes with leaders guiding projects indoors stalled by winter.
Reports misidentified CN rail abandonment, with confusion over the 32.8 mile section between Rossburn and Neepawa. A separate view ties the Rossburn to Neepawa stretch to a different subdivision, adding to the misunderstanding highlighted by the Transport Magazine.
The Provincial Hi Lites Concerts close the 1978 Manitoba Arts Festivals with two shows on Saturday June 10 at 2 30 p m and 7 30 p m in Brandon Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. About 700 performers from across the province participate in a varied program featuring music dance and speech with six provincial winners performing as a special feature. The event is sponsored by the Manitoba Arts Council Department of Tourism Recreation and Cultural Affairs The Eaton Foundation and Mrs James A Richardson Foundation.
