The Rossburn Student Council sponsors trips for two students Judy Kreshewski and Phillip Brown to Gimli Training Camp in July and to the United Nations Seminar in Brandon from July 4 to 9. Kreshewski heads to Gimli July 5-18. Brown to Gimli July 16-31.
A double ring ceremony at St. John's Roman Catholic Church Fox Valley Sask signed Sandra Faye Peden and Irwin Lea Lacher on May 8 1965 at 1 pm Rev W J Resc ing officiated with Leo Frey as organist. The couple will reside in Calgary Alberta.
A crowd attended the Town Hall recital by Mrs Beitel’s pupils on Saturday June 5. Performers included piano soloists Douglas Clayton Brent Clayton Glenda Lawless Leonard Smith Warren Brown accordion by Diane Dennis Kuzenko Audrey Nychek Adele Bilinsky Patsy Moffat clarence beitel Christina Beitel trumpet violin duets piano and accordion numbers. Gifts were given to Mrs Beitel including a rose corsage a cup and saucer and a plaque. Patsy Moffat will lead accordion pupils as Beitel departs. piano instruction appeal noted.
Two obituaries from Winnipeg area papers recall Peter Kostuik of Angusville who died at 52 after a lengthy illness at Winnipeg General Hospital. Prayers and funeral services were held at Ukr National Home and Ukr Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery. Surviving wife Margaret, son Jack, two brothers, two sisters, and several grandchildren are named along with pallbearers. A second obituary notes Anne Shewchuk of Mears district who died at 76, born in Ukraine and arrived in 1914. Surviving son William, three daughters, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren are listed. funeral services also held at Ukr Catholic Church with interment in Parish Cemetery.
The Rossburn Rural Municipality council met June 8 1965 in the council chambers. Attendees include Reeve Alex Cleland and Councillors Morley Brown William Hyra Mike Gawryluk and Joe Dnist ransky. They approved last meeting minutes and May 31 1965 financial report. They urged health officials to build a personal care home in Hospital District No 7 due to bed shortages. They approved development of Fishing Lake as a Centennial project and planned a provincial and federal approval process. Bills totaling 3500 50 were passed for payment. The next meeting is July 13 1965 at 1 PM.
On Saturday June 5, Rossburn Cub Pack led a first annual Shoal Lake Cuboree with about 20 Rossburn Cubs and around 160 attendees from Rossburn Vista Shoal Lake Birtle Elphinstone Foxwarren and Russell packs. The event featured a Pack Field Day track and field events an Athlete's Badge competition a Baseball Tournament and a campfire with songs and skits. Rossburn earned the most points and received a plaque to be contested at next year’s Pack meet under Cubmaster Flannigan’s closing remarks.
A special service led by Rev. M. Laurenson from Elphin stone was held at Vista's Argyle Presbyterian Church on Sunday June 6. A Communion Table honoring the Murdoch Cormack family was unveiled and dedicated by elders Hugh Armstrong and Alexander MacPhail.
Congratulations to Patsy Middlemass for winning 666.66 dollars at a Minnedosa Bingo event The $2000 Cash Black-out prize was shared among three participants.
The United Church Women met in the church annex on Tuesday June 8 with 16 members present. Lorna Veitch chaired, Bertha Johnston led devotion and Hymn 500 Take Time to Be Holy was sung, Daniel 3 20 30 read, and the Lord's Prayer said.
