Manitoba to aid Onanole area with 5000 Destination Manitoba funds
The Local Government District of Park will receive 5000 from Destination Manitoba to support a planning and landscape design study to enhance Onanole as the main tourist entry to Riding Mountain National Park. The announcement came from Lloyd Axworthy and Samuel Askiw with ministerial backing. The grant follows a 60 40 cost split between the federal and provincial governments. A separate 950 grant was accepted by the Elphinstone Recreation Committee for marketing the 1983 Canada Birthday Celebrations on July 1.

Health Minister L L Desjardins says the Alcohlism Foundation of Manitoba will expand the Second Offenders Program and add a First Offenders Program this fall. About 6,000 Manitoba convictions occur yearly for impaired driving, with alcohol driving fatalities and injuries high. The programs include seven hours of group work and two hours of individual sessions, financed by a recoverable relicensing fee.

Moose on Main Street Spotted in Rossburn
Mr and Mrs Frank Mushmanski encountered a cow moose and her calf on Main Street Rossburn while returning home from Shoal Lake at 1 30 AM May 30. The pair followed the animals two blocks from Pioneer Street to Ched dar Ave toward the Rossburn Collegiate and fairgrounds.
