Manitoba Hydro ranked first among 14 major Canadian electrical utilities for overall safety in 1983, marking its 20th straight year in the top three. CN to Abandon Part of Rossburn Subdivision Line
The CN Rossburn Subdivision will be partly abandoned with 11.9 miles from Bethany to Rossburn Junction saved for a prairie line rehabilitation. Overall 45.7 miles of 104.3 will be rehabilitated including 19.5 miles Erickson to Bethany and 26.0 miles Rossburn to Russell. New connections will link Russell and Bethany with CP lines. The program, funded by a five year, 520.1 million federal CN CP agreement plus a 51 million incentive fund, aims to boost grain transport and economic recovery with Manitoba receiving 122.8 million in work across five years.
