Local Society Plans For Fair
The Agricultural Society met Friday May 30 with 28 present. Judges were chosen for each section and a fence-line check between Gumieny's and the fair grounds was ordered. A cement floor under the grandstand where meals are served will be installed. Ten dollars was voted to the Scholarship Fund. A Bingo on fair day was suggested. Rowatt Veited to contact four league teams for prize money matching last year and tug of war. Marvin McDonald to oversee Indian Pony races, George Lawless to run a booth with help, Bob Stitt as Gatekeeper, Bill Mitchell to manage the grandstand.

Canadian Legion Auxiliary District Rally Held at Sandy Lake
Eleven branches from across the province gathered in the Community Parish Hall for the annual district rally. District representative Mrs E Duff led the meeting with Mrs Bjarnson assisting, while Mrs H Maluk welcomed delegates and Mrs A Kristolowich acted as secretary for the day. The group, numbering 105 ladies from Arden Alonso Clear Lake Erickson Elphinstone Gladstone Langrith Onanole Portage la Prairie and Sandy Lake, enjoyed a chicken dinner after presentations including a Membership Shield for Alonso and remarks on hospital wing construction and education.
