The Canada North Museumobile, a 45 by 8 foot tractor trailer, visits Rossburn June 9 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and June 10 from 9 AM to 12 PM and 1 to 4 PM at Railway Mountain. It showcases early to modern Canadian history using artifacts and dioramas.
Warm, humid conditions persisted this week though showers eased drought concerns. Additional showers are forecast, bringing relief to dry areas and a shift in the near term outlook.
Hi I am Val Bed nas Rossburn's 1976 summer recreation director hired by the province to organize activities in the Rossburn community. I arrived May 24 and will hold a Ladies Fastball registration June 4 from 1 30 to 2 30 pm in my office. First practice is 8 pm June 8 at the Elementary School.
On the May 24th long weekend the 1st Rossburn Scout Troop Venturer Company and Rover Crew attended the Prairie Mountain District Scout Camporee. About 200 Scouts and Scouters participated and two B ribbons were awarded to two Scout Patrols and one B ribbon to the Venturer Company for camping ability and campsite appearance. The Rover Crew assisted as leaders. Attendees included Scouts Ray Zegalski Jeff Kalyniuk Mario Hebert Johan Antonin Mark Stitt Dave Heindle Dwain Swintak Terry Luhowy Venturers Geer Les Radford Christ Don Heindle Perry Borowski Gerald Bidochka Mark Stefanuk and Jr. Advisor Darryl Michalchuk Rovers Del Heindle Rich Chicheluk Tom Cottingham.
The Lions Club held a jackpot bingo on Wednesday June 2 listing winners and prizes. Names include Mrs Shust Anne Drosdoski June Cook Kay Belbas Mrs Sidlar Joyce Brown and others with prizes of 10 dollars or 1050 for ties.
Katrina Kilimnik and her son Stefan arrived from Poland to visit her sister Anne Kowalchuk in Winnipeg. A May 16 reunion and Anne’s 81st birthday were celebrated at 1140 Ellice Ave with relatives from London Ontario and Manitoba. Special thanks to Morris Kowalchuk of London for making the visit possible.
Progress on renovations to the Rossburn arena includes a formed committee with Lions Club Hornets Minor Hockey Association village and district reps. Fundraising events like Lions proceeds Think Rink Night and a community auction are planned plus a provincial labor grant expected in autumn. A canvassing group will visit residents for pledges and a money thermometer will track progress.
Angusville defeated Binscarth 11-5 at Binscarth Tuesday as Bob Chuchmuch and Lynn Chuchmuch led the offense with homers and multi hits. McAuley then beat Angusville 12-5 Sunday. Dan Kaupla earned the win and Wayne Poole delivered a two run double as Angusville pitchers allowed 15 hits.
