Thunderstorms and scattered showers relieved a weeklong dry spell with reports of up to 0.25 inch in Wednesday storms from areas north of town while southern districts saw lighter rain. This week last year records show a high of 73 and a low of 36.

The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met May 28 in special session chaired by Reeve John Mitchell. Motions include awarding tenders for electrical heat at the municipal office to Rossburn Electric Ltd and road gravelling to Bicknell Construction Ltd, approving a high sanitation by law, and seeking provincial support to restore roads and waterways to prior levels. The meeting also covers fuel storage, burried cable plan, copier charges, hospital board remuneration, and other town planning actions.

Recreation notes list Lions Playground hours on Tuesday and Thursday for ages three to five and invite volunteers to donate toys. A cycling trip to Rossman Lake is planned for Saturday June 12 with a call for bikers to meet at 10:00 am and donations of food for hungry riders. 4-H District Demonstration Held at Major Pratt School
The 4-H District Demonstration took place on Wednesday June 2 at Major Pratt School Russell. Seven Junior teams and two Senior teams competed with each team earning ribbons and certificates. Glu-Rite Products of Russell donated trophies to the winning teams. Junior winners Betty Lyon and Wendy Tibbits of the Binscarth Home-Ettes demonstrated Flower Power. Lori McKietiuk and Shereen Samuels were Reserve Champions.
