A storm with strong winds around 6:00 p.m. July 21 toppled a cattle shed on the Eugene Yanyk farm a few miles east of Oakburn, tearing off the roof and upending the 38 by 80 foot structure. A funnel cloud was sighted along Highway 45 with a separate unconfirmed tornado report near Russell.
A joint meeting of Rossburn RM, Park LD and Strathclair RM on July 18 sought consensus on Provincial Road transfers. Park and Strathclair proposed shifting P R 470 and P R 359, citing terrain and boundary issues, with a meeting set for Aug 8 or 9 with highways minister's rep. Rossburn continued with unrelated council business including renting a new Caterpillar 140G motor grader and passing weed infestation bylaw 1242.
The Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association denounces Canada Post for closing five additional e) and 13 group post offices. Manitoba CPAA leader Al Hunter says the closures follow promises to decide on outstanding reviews, accusing the agency of eliminating jobs despite public commitments.
