Moulson family wins cabin at Rossman Lake
The Rossburn Lions Club cabin draw on August 3 selected Derry and Katharine Moulson of Russell as winners from 293 tickets sold. Lions officials Reeve Leonard Sitko and councillor Shirley Kalyniuk attended with keys and cheque as funds support local community projects.

Library grants fund bookmobile and community projects
The Parkland Regional Library received a 22500 grant for a bookmobile under Manitoba’s Community Places Program as part of 105 projects totaling over 2 million. Other funds supported by the program include 122500 for three Parklands projects and 696988 for Winnipeg’s 26 projects.

Wayway Rodeo Club Presents Meeting of Champions
The Waywayseecappo Rodeo Club hosts the Meeting of Champions at Russell Fairgrounds August 24 and 25 featuring Quam's Championship Rodeo Stock and top riders from the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association and Canadian Cowboys Association. Lee Bellows of Moose Jaw, the sport’s top clown, will attend along with events in team roping saddle bronc bareback bull riding calf roping steer wrestling and ladies barrel racing. Special attractions include an Indian village flea market a Saturday dance horseshoe tournament 4 H horse show and a coed slow pitch tournament with 300 prize money. Saturday schedule runs 9:00 to 9:00 p.m. with 4 H show parade pow wow rodeo gymkhana talent show and monster dance. Sunday features Queen’s horsemanship pow wow dancing rodeo chariot racing and closing ceremonies.
