Obituaries and greetings mark the Sandy Lake notes with Tony Milinchuk’s passing at Brandon Hospital on July 23 at 64, multiple weddings and engagements including Podruchny and Koroscil, visits among relatives from Winnipeg Edmonton and Calgary, and a Red Cross Water Safety course announced by the Sandy Lake Chamber of Commerce for August 2 to 13.
A burst of social visits fills the week in Brandon and area. Albert Chesney of Brandon spends time with the Millers and Stitts, while Donna Hamilton returns from Calgary. Families from Winnipeg and North Battleford visit relatives, camp plans unfold, and locals host guests from Churchill and Vancouver.
Infant Michele Dawn Murray daughter of Mr and Mrs Roy Murray was christened at Brandon United Church last Sunday A reception followed at the grandparents home Roy Murray Sr and the Verbiwskis attended the ceremony and reception in Edmonton and Sandy Lake respectively.
John Spitula, 70, of Sandy Lake, born August 15, 1894 in Western Ukraine, died July 10 at Minnedosa Hospital. Survived by wife Dora, son Harry, daughter Mary Woychyshyn, sister Wasylik, brother Harry, five grandchildren. Funeral July 13 at Ukr. Catholic Church. interment in Parish Cemetery. Sanderson's Funeral Home handled arrangements.
The cattle show lists top placings in Class B-Cattle and Dairy entries with winners including O Hamberg Beulah and J Irwin Beulah for bulls and yearlings. Dairy entries show multiple wins for Solsgirth and Rossburn participants led by Wilfred Lane and J D Johnston with several in breeding, heifer, and herd categories.

Rossburn's golf team recovered from a heavy loss at Birtle to defeat Binscarth by 61 percent to 2 percent on Sunday. Well done, fellows.
