Rossburn Fair prize winners shine amid many new exhibitors
Rossburn fair drew strong attendance despite rain and overcast skies with gate receipts near last year. Binscarth and Inglis tied in baseball. crafts, cattle, and produce displays featured winners from Rossburn, Binscarth, Inglis, Shoal Lake, Isabela, and Vista. E. Newton of Hamiota led Purebred York shires with multiple prizes. A. Coulter of Silverton and Bill Gilchrist of Isabella also earned top awards in cattle and livestock categories.

Thieves Escape With Four Thousand Dollar Safe Robbery
The Birdtail district recounts its largest robbery on July 23 when burglars entered Bill Tanasychuk’s store, stole a nearly 400 pound safe containing about $4,000, and left it along a Rossburn road. R.C.M.P. investigate. the safe was later found nearby. A similar prior theft in 1948 led to convictions and jail terms.

Rossburn Bantams of Manitoba’s North-West region lost 6 2 to Gilbert Plains in Gilbert Plains Tuesday with a 1 0 lead evaporating as three costly errors produced five runs in one inning. A second game is set at Rossburn Friday July 31 at 6 30 p m with a possible third game if needed to decide the series.
