ROSSBURN A 50th Wedding Anniversary Note
A 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Alex Rossburn was held at Mears Hall on Saturday July 14 with about 75 guests. The couple married in Mohyla in 1906 and have lived in the district since. An electric refrigerator was presented. Family in attendance included their three sons Bill Oryniak and family from Fort William Ontario Matt Oryniak and family from Winnipeg Leslie of home. five daughters Pratt and family Winnipeg Dora Mymko and family Shortdale Pearl Gorda and family Edmonton Myrtle Malloy Edmonton and John Dowbak and son Fort William Ontario.

Top prize went to Mrs Doug Andrew of Rossburn with score 95 2, followed by M F Antonin of Rossburn with 98 0, and Harvey A Hamilton of Vista scoring 97 8. Other winners include Mrs Mike Lepischak of Selsgirth and Mrs Annie Strilecky of Rossburn with scores 97 4 and 97 3 respectively.

Rain Continues To Plague Farmers In Rossburn Area
Rainfall for July in Rossburn reaches 3.37 inches after a severe storm Tuesday night. Waywayseecappo Reserve reports 1.50 inches, season total 13.00 inches since April 1. Last year’s rainfall at Rossburn was 13.82 inches. Regional records show Manitoba and nearby totals through Monday, with Biggar, Sask reporting a 97 degree high last week. Temperatures from April 1 to July 23 averaged near normal in Birtle and Rossburn, while Russell and Rossburn saw highs around 80 and 78 respectively.

Village Council Meeting Rossburn July 24
The Rossburn village council met in the council chambers with the mayor presiding and all councillors present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed and the financial statement adopted. The constable’s report was received with action on grass cutting, warning notices about parking and children playing on streets, and two delegates discussed roads and storage of fire equipment. Bills were passed and the meeting adjourned to August 21.
