Mr. Alex Kalychen aged 66 of Grandview died there on Thursday July 20 born July 15 1890 in Poland came to Canada in 1918 and settled in Mears district He married Rosie Maydaniuk in 1914 farmed in the area then Grandview retired to town He is survived by five daughters four sons and two grandchildren A large circle of relatives from Winnipegosis Mears and Rossburn attended the funeral.

Spectacular 86 Percent Majority Passes Hospital By Law
Rossburn rural and town vote on July 30 approved a Hospital By-Law by an 86 percent majority. The plan includes a $60 000 extension to Rossburn Hospital, improving facilities beyond many towns of similar size. Village and rural totals reached 374 62 compared to 1956 1949 votes, with village 157 in favor and 22 against. Visitors Ray Grant and family from Silvis Illinois stayed with J Peden and family, while M E Hamilton Garry of Vista and Clara Peden joined others at Abernethy Saskatchewan.

Passing of 6 (Vic) Halliday Vista Pioneer
The funeral for Gibson MacVicar Halliday aged 74 was held at Vista United Church on Saturday. Burial followed at Argyle Cemetery after a service led by Mr. G. Fergusson. Halliday, who died August 2 in Hamiota Hospital, was a pioneer Vista resident who came to Canada in 1887 from Scotland. He is survived by his wife Helen Scott Muirman and ten children, four grandchildren, one brother, and several siblings. Honorary pallbearers and active pallbearers are named.
