Wheat midge monitoring urged for Manitoba fields
Manitoba Agriculture urges wheat growers in the southwest to monitor for orange wheat midge flies at dusk. If one midge per four to five heads is found, apply registered controls such as Lorsban Pyrinex or Lagon. Fields have heightened risk between heading and flowering, with Glenlea wheat unusually vulnerable after flowering. A factsheet is available from the Russell office.
