For thirty eight years Rossburn Fair has stood as a top northern Manitoba event with expanded sports, new rides, and the E. J. Casey Shows providing insured midway attractions. Directors tout more horse entries after track registration with the Canadian Trotting Association. invited baseball teams promise three games. a thrilling chariot race and a kiddie tricycle race add to a holiday vibe. The fair runs Thursday July 24, inviting the public to show support for local agricultural industry and celebrate the organizers’ hard work.
Miss Evelyn Taylor of Pins Falls visits Gordon Taylor family while Mrs J G Stitt tours Fork River with relatives. Winnipeg guests, Red Deer visitors, and many local trips fill the week as the community notes thanks to a TB clinic in Rossburn and district and a Hungry Nine win at Roblin sports.
Oakburn area residents share visits with relatives in Ethelbert Regina and Winnipeg while hosting and attending church meetings picnics dances and youth events. Families named Ogloff Melnyk Raginski Remeda Kinash Yanick Chebotiuk Fedorowick Brown Borodi plus local hosts are listed with towns Oakburn Arran Kamsack Olha and Lake Audy.
Phyllis Ethel Black and Gordon Duncan McIntyre were married at the United Church Manse Shoal Lake with Dr P N Murray officiating. The couple plans a short honeymoon in Winnipeg and will reside in Return.
Tenders are invited for the erection of a teachers residence on Rossburn school grounds including all materials and labor. Plans and specifications available at J Lindsay’s office. Mr Max Caldwell of Thornhill returns home after visiting Eugene Caldwell. Mr and Mrs John Plante travel to Winnipeg for the postmaster convention. Mrs Tom Sinclair and daughter return from Winnipeg after a two week visit. Arthur Andrew injures his foot at Valley school picnic. Sr William Maxwell returns from Winnipeg. Mrs Joseph James and son Eugene of Winnipeg visit C S York's. Miss Myrtle Oryniak leaves Valley for Fort William to take a new job. TB Clinic opens in district. Road repairs block Ranch Vale hall so HQs set at Lorne Plante's. Over 500 people registered.
