Baseball tournament at Rossburn drew teams Solsgirth Isabella Russell Birtle Binscarth Hamiota Roblin and two Ressburn squads though attendance fell short of dreams. Solsgirth won first place with Russell second Roblin third and Birtle fourth. Final game 6 8 ended early due to darkness. Girls softball went Foxwarren Rossburn Vista in that order. Special prizes included a $25 wrist watch to Bud McLain for first home run and top distance Roblin team won 20 gallons of gas. Isabella took best dressed team. A Russell orchestra provided the evening music and organizers were praised for the effort.
A large crowd gathered at United Church, Rossburn, on Saturday July 5 for the marriage of Mary Christine Deckers of Eindhoven to Gerald Douglas Stitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Stitt. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. M. Nixon with Miss Lois Stitt as bridesmaid and James Stitt as best man. The couple will reside in Winnipeg after a wedding supper at the groom's parents' home.
The Rossburn Consumers Co operative Limited met in the town hall on Monday June 30 presided by President Bert Mitchell with Secretary Jas D Andrews recording minutes. The board reviewed the year, appointed Mr Griffiths as manager, and approved a year end sales total of 58882 with member savings 5329. Directors elected: Joe Huston Walter Snider John Cormack and Bert Mitchell for two years. A substantial lunch followed.
Local Wednesday uion notes a dace night at Riverside Dance Gardens Birtle during summer. The column lists visitors and travel to events including Calgary fair trips and visits to family in Basswood Brandon Winnipeg and Regina. A Women's Institute shower honors Dutch overseas bride Mrs Gerald Stitt. Murray A Tanasichuk earns Tucker scholarship and Isbister honorable mention. For sale lawn mower at The Review Office.
The district records condolences to Mr and Mrs Chas Brown and family on a bereavement. Henry Miller returned home after a weeks visit to Alberta. Cordelia Miller Netta Andrew visited over the long weekend. Alex Barnesky made a business trip to Winnipeg last week. May Craig Ena of Red Deer visit friends. Jack Harris and family Isabella spent two weeks locally. Robert Maxwell with sister E Bowcott and Winnipeg relatives spent weekend at Maxwell residence. Max Pidlubny took infant son to Winnipeg for medical attention.
Mr and Mrs Smelsky of River Fen Manitoba will reside in the Woroneski residence at the Searle elevator, moving around mid July. School closes June 30 with a winding picnic. Several residents attend Brandon fair. Mrs Rosenblat visits Rossburn before Winnipeg move after 21 years in Angusville. Hail rumored south of Angusville.
At Rossburn hospital a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. J Machedenski on Tuesday July 1. Also at Rossburn hospital a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. A Dirkach of Ruthenie on Friday June 27.
