A wide interest wedding was held at St. James United Church Simcoe on Saturday June 21 at four with Margaret Fern Taylor and William E Foster uniting in a double ring ceremony. The bride wore a white French lace gown and was given in marriage by her brother Dean R. Taylor. Out-of-town guests attended from Rossburn Chicago London Alymer Tillsonburg Galt Brantford Hamilton Waterford and Long Point. The ceremony featured red and white peonies roses ferns and music by Lansing MacDowell and Mrs Elmer Miller.
Mrs Erwin McMillan of Waskada Manitoba visited Oakburn last week at the home of Mr and Mrs Harry Whyman. A group from Gladstone Manitoba including Mr and Mrs David E Smith and daughters Marie and Dorothy visited Oakburn with others from Gladstone and Winnipeg for a few days. Miss Mary I Mazier of Justice Manitoba is in town visiting friends. Walter Dutchak and Mrs D D Dutchak of Chicago Illinois are visiting Oakburn area. John Hrytsak visited Mikado Saskatchewan for a few days with his sister and brother in law Mr and Mrs Joe Remeda. Audrie Remeda of Mikado Saskatchewan is visiting Oakburn relatives.
Day for combines and swathers to be held under the Rossburn Agricultural Society at Alex Cleland's farm on Thursday July 31 at 2 am. Agricultural Engineer Mr. Bryce will be on hand to answer questions about the equipment.
The community reports many visits and events including holidays with family, weekend travels to Winnipeg and Calgary, a church wedding at Roesburn for Ann Tanasichuk and Frank Bart, a Rossburn Co-Op poultry shipment notice, a midnight Roman Catholic church event at Birdtail, and locals greeting relatives from Portage la Prairie to Virden.
Mrs John Coughlan and family returned from Carberry. Mr and Mrs John Copeland and family visited Roy Plante and Eugene Caldwell over the weekend, accompanied home by Mrs R Plante. Pauline Danyleyko of Winnipeg visits district. Mrs Wm Pidlubny and infant return from Winnipeg. Betty Chisholm of Neepawa visits Clelands. Bernard Millard returns from Manhattan Beach. Elizabeth Palmer and Bobby Crookshanks visit grandmother Mrs Sara Crookshanks. Alice Koleski of Winnipeg visits home. Peter Kuzenko narrowly escaped a move accident inside a culvert 22 by 5 feet. wagon slight upset left him bruised but ok.
