Heavy showers marred Rossburn's 56th annual fair on Tuesday. Four Invitation Ball Tournaments were washed out though a few innings of 12 and under Zame and late Midget baseball were played. Horse classes and Exhibition Hall entries remained bright spots as organizers led by president L. C. Johnston regroup for prize results.
United Church ran a summer church school with over eighty enrolled and high attendance. Ages 4 to 14 were served by eleven teachers, drawing children from Rossburn Angusville and Vista. The theme The World In Which We Live explored creation, purpose, and living in relation to God through Genesis and nature.
A regional 14 and under baseball team, combining Kenton and Ang usville players, heads to the AB playdowns. The first round opens in Rossburn Saturday at 7 pm against Kenton, with the return in Kenton Monday. Gilbert Plains game dates are not yet announced. Support for Minor Baseball is urged.
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met July 13 1965 as a Court of Revision to revise the Electors List for 1965. Reeve Cleland chaired. list revisions were adopted. By-Laws 893 and 894 for public roads were read and passed. The council discussed PTH 45 and requested old No 45 remain a provincial road or added to the system. Meeting adjourned to August 10 1965.
Showery weather was replaced by sunny warm conditions after the fair. A few miles south of Rossburn little rain was reported while Reeve Cleland notes 1% in Birdtail district over Sunday Monday and Rossburn rainfall .78 inches.
Sonia Melnyk and Barbara Fink discuss paying a 5.00 regional affiliation fee. Jean Lawless and Jessie Caldwell plan an Open-Air Bingo for July 5 with committee members Jessie Caldwell May Lawless Elizabeth Doubleday. Sonia Melnyk and Ann Lion propose a Hobo Tea in July and August. Matron asks for clothing hangers. Marion Frieze gives a facial demonstration. Meeting closes with Auxiliary Prayer. next meeting at Mrs Crookshanks on September 28 with new members.
Mrs. H Huston and Larry spent a day at Edmonton with Mrs. Ethel Langridge on their way home from the Coast. Mrs Langridge asked to be remembered to all her friends. Miss Olga Olyarnyk and Mr. Ken Trait of Esterhazy Sask spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Mike Olyarnyk and family. Miss Joyce Koscielny of Esterhazy spent the weekend with friends and relatives in Winnipeg.
A large gathering of 35 relatives and friends met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Elvers on Sunday July 11 to honor Mr. Alex Andrews 82nd birthday. Attendees included A Andrew Ernie Brown Richard Juliette Mad Bell Barbara Jimmie Nancy Eileen Todd Winnipeg Glen Smith Joyce Patsy Plumas Wm Elvers Keith Elvers Pattie Carr Lorraine Andrew Niel Wilkie Brandon D Andrew Russell Norman Norma J D Andrew Leslie J Smith Leonard Elvers Gordon Rossburn. A buffet dinner followed.
A large Miller family gathering at Arden Manitoba marking Mr and Mrs Henry A Miller's golden anniversary. All five daughters and two sons hosted with 29 attending including grandchildren and relatives from Vancouver Winnipeg Montreal Moose Jaw and Brandon. The couple wed December 1 1915 in Vista with memories of eight stork events. a note recalls their late son Everett who died in World War II.
The Rossburn Hospital Statistics outline patient care figures including 3941 days for adults and children, 224 days newborns, average daily census 108, and occupancy at 51.3 percent, 1.5 percent over budget. It lists 35423 total paid staff, salaries and wages of 44913.08, and salaries as 60 percent of total cost.
