Cadet Corps Planned for Ross District Youths
A movement to organize a Royal Canadian Army Cadets corps in Ross district aims to train young men and boys. About 1200 cadets will begin training at Clear Lake this summer under Major W Cummings and Capt W J Fenry with courses starting June 3 4 and July M4, lasting about ten days. The program includes signalling, sports, physics, small arms, swimming, field and woodcraft under authorities from Riding Mountain National Park. C E Hensley of Earl Grey School will help lead the project.

The University of Manitoba history professor Dr Ronald Oliver MacFarlane is named Super intendent and Chief Administrative Officer of the Department of Education. Former superintendent H R Low left for military service in 1941 and Mr C K Rogers filled in awaiting a permanent appointee. The government appointed MacFarlane to fill the posts after Low’s departure and Low’s resignation to join War Assets Corporation in Montreal.
