Rural Manitoba reports the Stamp Out Starvation drive by the National War Finance Committee Manitoba Division aims to deliver eighty thousand bushels of wheat to Europe. The campaign runs July and August and is said to exceed its goal as Mrs I F McWilliams, UNRRA delegate, recalls Europe’s food scarcity and urges continued aid through War Stamps sold at banks post offices and public venues.
Mr and Mrs Hyrak enjoy news of their son Pte Matt Hyrak arriving in Winnipeg on Sunday. Bobby Baker on furlough with his parents. Mr A T Chesney returned from Vancouver trip. Families visited Winnipeg and extended stays with relatives. The Vista picnic succeeded despite early departures for an Indian Pow Wow. Pte Peter Stebeleski and Pte Sam Strbelecski departed for Camp Shilo and Camp Borden after visiting at home.

OSHA John Buternowsky recovers from appendix operation at Shoal Lake Hospital. Mr and Mrs Harry Malaciuk and family of Winnipeg visit relatives in the district. Miss Anne Dastiansky left for Winnipeg to attend summer school. Miss Helen Itiehak of Winnipeg spends holidays at home. Mrs M Fabr of Winnipeg visits her parents and Mrs A Sieele. Mike Lunowy of Canadia is stationed at Petawawa Ontario. Mr and Mrs Strut y of Winnipeg. F Zubrak and family left for Lac du Ponnet Manitoba. Melvin Unikow heads to a boys camp in Winnipeg. Wm Puyda heads to St Hyacinthe Quebec for naval service. Mike Bolonis and family visit Winnipeg after two weeks with Dmyteriysh family. Annie lumowy and John Wachniak wed in Winnipeg July 11 1945. Newleyweds visit bird's mother and relatives. wedding supper July 9. Nellie Nykulation and Peter Hyrsak wed at Olha Greth Church July 14. Harry Maduke of Oakburn dies July 2 at Russell Sted Heart Hospital aged 77.
A returning veteran advocates farm electrification to lift living standards and reduce labor. He notes electric lights and motors ease chores from pumping water to grinding and threshing, while dairying and poultry operations benefit from power. Manitoba Hydro plans a province wide program with surveys and experimental areas to ready for farm electrification when labour and materials allow.
Water setters of the Glba d Met north of Oakburn and farmed there for forty years. He retired five years ago and lived in Oakburn with his wife who predeceased him a few months earlier. Survived by three sons Matt Oakburn John Saskatoon and another son from Birtle Man and four daughters Mrs Andrew Labo Mrs Laboy both of Menzie Man Mrs Harry Rudiak of Flint USA and Mrs Jotin nechyshyn of Grenfiell Sask.
A meeting of the Ressburn Rural Society was held in the Club room to finalize arrangements and appoint committees for the upcoming Fair and Sports Day on Thursday July 26. Horse races athletic events and the Red River Show are promised to attract attendees. Mr A Miller suggested forming a committee to engage Rural Municipal Council Board of Trade and Government to appoint an Agricultural Representative for the district to advance local agriculture.
