Superb Long Weekend Weather Graces Holiday
Warm mid-summer style weather marked the long weekend with daytime highs in the 80s. Lake resorts drew crowds and many attended sporting events amid the pleasant holiday conditions. Last year’s record shows a high of 75 and a low of 45.
Miller family reunion brings relatives together in Vista
The Miller families from Grande Prairie Alberta Vista Manitoba and relatives from Halifax Ottawa Peace River Burnaby Hinton Nipawin Saskatoon and various Manitoba towns gathered July 1–2 1978 at Vista Hall for a large reunion. Dorothy Owens opened with O Canada Bernard Miller gave the Blessing Margaret English hosted a smorgasbord supper for 110.

Kingdom Hall to be dedicated by Rossburn Jehovah's Witnesses
The Rossburn Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will dedicate Kingdom Halls on Ellen Street and E Dalgleish Kelwood at 2:00 p.m. R Zimmerman of Brandon will officially dedicate the building. A 9:00 a.m. field service and an open house from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. are planned. The hall was moved to Rossburn in fall 1974.

Park District Council Discusses Mountain Estates Subdivision
The Park local government district council met June 27 1978 at Onanole Recreation Centre with Reeve R Nowalkowski and councillors. Delegation from Mountain Estates Limited discussed subdivision West half Section 20 19 18W and a draft development agreement. A motion passed approving cheques totaling an undisclosed amount.

Parkland Tourist Association Honors Rossburn Winners
The Parkland Tourist Association awarded the third annual trophy to the Rossburn Drop-In Centre Senior Citizens at Russell on June 21 with about three hundred seniors from fifteen Parkland communities. Director Joan Rowat presented the trophy, Rossburn holds it until the 1979 Rally, and the piece notes the upcoming 78 golf promotion with two fall winners across eleven Parkland courses.

Recreation Director Named for Rossburn-Silver Creek District
William Summerhayes of Brantford Ontario has been appointed Recreation Director for the Rossburn Silver Creek Recreation District. He holds a Business Administration Diploma from Fanshawe College 1974 and studied at Sir Wilfrid Laurier University in 1975. He recently earned a Recreational Leadership Diploma from Conestoga College and will oversee local programs including swimming lessons pre registrations. Registered lessons occur Mondays and Wednesdays 1:30 to 4:00 pm with adult sessions also available. An all day event July 26 led by Bill Butler will feature a hayride and roller skating. The playground operates Mondays Wednesdays Thursdays 1 to 4 pm with supervision by local high school students.
