Funeral Rites for Boreskiewich Anglusville 76

Samuel Boreskiewich 76 died at his farm home June 21 after years of ill health. Born in Austria April 1, 1881 he moved to Silver Creek in 1908 and later farmed near Silverton. He married Lena Nyhnaebida in 1911. A Greek Catholic service was held at Angusville with burial in the church yard. Survived by Lena, two sons Nick and Henry, four daughters, six grandchildren, and siblings in Austria and Canada. Pallbearers included his sons and sons-in-law. out of town mourners attended. a farm family dinner followed.

Local visitors note in Oakburn and Winnipeg residents

Oakburn and area hosts welcomed visitors over the weekend. Ted Neskar and family from Selkirk visited Mrs. Rose Waytowich, while Alice and Phyllis Waytowich from Winnipeg joined. Orest Lazaruk and another Winnipeg visitor stayed with the Lazaruk family. The CKX Rhythm Ranch Boys, a local dance orchestra including Ernest Antonation, Hank Norman, Stan Kaskiw, Walter Yanchycki and Nestor Tutkaluk, are playing this week in town.

Rossburn Baseball Club shines at Elphinstone Sports Day

The Rossburn club opened with a 3-2 win over Newdale as Dean Hamilton pitched well and led the locals. In the second game Rapid City overwhelmed Rossburn 8-2 with Bill Carson and Doug Joiner splitting pitching duties.

Tuesday evening two car loads from Pente costal church visited Dean family at Riding Mountain Forest Ranger Station to bid them farewell on their move. They shared songs and fellowship and the visiting ladies served a delicious lunch after the gathering.

Dial Service Established At Erickson

Automatic dial service was introduced to Erickson subscribers on June 18 by the Manitoba Telephone System. An unattended dial office on Main Street now serves 230 subscribers in the town and rural area after a June 13 demonstration in Erickson Hall. Aims included showing dial operation and courteous use on multi party lines. about 220 attended. Within the local rate area, individual line service is now available and two party lines have been eliminated. Free calling within Erickson subscribers is noted.
