Park LGD approves grant to Roblin Residences
The Local Government District of Park held a regular meeting on January 14 with Reeve Nowalkowski presiding. Council approved provisional 1980 operating and capital estimates, set the May 15 tax sale date, and granted $1500 to Roblin Residences for a new 33 unit senior citizen’s residence in Roblin 1980 81. Also approved payments totaled 39496.98 and donations to Manitoba Heart Foundation and other minor disbursements.

Reciprocity plan urged for commercial vehicle licenses
Victoria British Columbia ministers from all ten provinces and two territories agreed to implement a common commercial vehicle licence reciprocity system. Pro rate licensing based on miles operated would reduce duplication, with full implementation targeted for April 1 1981. Hornets edge Flyers in NCHL duel at Rossburn Arena
A crowd of over six hundred watched Rossburn Hornets defeat Angusville Flyers 5-3 on January 26, 1980. Rossburn led 2-0, then 3-0 before Angusville tied 3-3 with two quick goals. The Hornets pulled ahead 4-3 with a short handed score and sealed it when Ron Hedley scored at 17:58 assisted by Larry Huston.

Russell Chamber reports 36.5 percent response to survey
The Russell and District Chamber of Commerce notes about 385 consumers answered the consumer and business questionnaire by the deadline. Respondents total 36.5 percent, higher than provincial surveys, with final results to be tabulated by the Manitoba Department of Economic Development.
