Orange Lodge Social Evening at Legion Hall Rossburn

The Loyal Orange Lodge held a social evening at the Legion Hall on Tuesday. Chairman Laird Duncanson led the program with talks by J Stitt and Pollock, plus films by Stitt. A Whist Drive produced winners Mrs Hutton, Mrs J G Stitt, Bill Mitchell, and Spencer Taylor. Miss Finlay provided music and a launch was served.

Benito 4-H Garden Club Wins Manitoba Award

The Benito 4-H Garden Club won the T Eat on Co Shield for top proficiency in Manitoba in 1955. E. W. Somers announced the result after judging 115 clubs with 1,560 members. The Benito club, formed in 1950, had 41 members with 39 completing the year under Mrs. R. S. Coutts assisted by David Banks and Eddie Lyons.

The Rossburn team led by Mary Klym with Viola Stitt Anne Drosdoski and Ann Hamilton defeated Margaret Cleland to represent Rossburn in the Strathclair curling playdowns on Wednesday. Strathclair beat Foxwarren 18 to 3 while Binscarth edged Strathclair in a separate match and Birtle won 8-6 over Russell. final district championship matchup pending the Strathclair winner clash with either Binscarth or Birtle.

The January Vista W I meeting hosted by Mrs Wilma Nickel had 14 members and one visitor. Mrs Joan Brown spoke on England coming to Canada. A Whist Drive and Dance was planned for Friday January 20 at Community Hall. Lunch was served by Mrs Nickel and Mrs Chesney. The next meeting will be at Mrs Ruth Rogers home on February 9.
