Methyl Hydrate Poisoning Claims Two Lives and Five Hospitalized
Two people died and three were hospitalized after drinking methyl hydrate over the weekend. Victims identified were Isabel Shingoose 43 and Keith Mentuck 16 found at the Isabel Shingoose residence in Vista. Others Raymond Clearsky 24 Marlene Mentuck 20 and Robert Shingoose 22 were later treated at Rossburn Hospital and released. All are from Lizard Point Reserve. Cpl. McCrossin said investigation continues.

Hornets Defeat Kenton 9-2 In North Central League Game
Rossburn Hornets erupted for nine goals against Kenton in North Central League hockey at Rossburn on Tuesday evening Jan 16. Rossburn led 2-1 after one period and 6-1 after two, finishing with a 9-2 win as Don Martin added four in a standout third period. Allan Griffiths added two and Lynn Beaton Denis Martin and Dwain Lawless each scored once, while John Wright and Lawrence David scored for Kenton.

Petition From Rossburn Residents For Paving Coast Victoria Ave West
The Village of Rossburn council met January 11 1973 with mayor and four councillors present. They approved 1973 bylaws and tentative operating and capital estimates, accepted minutes, renewed memberships, and allocated small donations. A petition from Victoria Avenue West residents seeking pavement was filed for future consideration.
R. M. of Silver Creek Allows One Predator Control Plane
At the January 9 meeting two by laws were passed to appoint staff and approve 1973 provisional estimates. Accounts totaling 25 484 15 were approved. Mines and Resources stated one plane George Honey would be licensed for predator control from January 15 to March 15 1973 and the council received the list of excluded farms. Angusqie Community Centre delegation discussed Local Improvement Levy and the matter will be referred to the Assessment and Finance Branches. Next meeting is February 13 at 1 pm.

In a hard hitting game at Rossburn Burn Arena Miniota built a 6-0 lead and finished 10-5. Denis Martin and Larry Huston led Hornets with two goals each while Dwain Lawless added one. The Rossburn Venturer Co undertook a weekend wilderness excursion with thirteen members on nine snow mobiles. They camped at Rossman Lake, fished poorly, and enjoyed ice outings, then moved to Alex Cleland's cabin near Riding Mountain National Park for trail setup. They returned by 2:30 PM Sunday and thanked several locals for support while inviting more odd-job help in 1972.
