Recreation District seeks new director after resigning
Rossburn Silver Creek Recreation District remains closed as it searches for a replacement for Lorne Johnston who resigned last month. President Larry Chipelski says applications are being received and the office will reopen under a new director by next month. Johnston, who organized local recreation since 1985, finished on January 6 and is moving to Baker Lake Northwest Territories.

New principal at Rossburn Collegiate named Gordon Nixon
Gordon Nixon has been appointed principal of Rossburn Collegiate following Jack Huggins’s resignation. A University of Manitoba physical education graduate, he leaves an 11 year teaching role at Gilbert Plains to start his first principal position. He will teach two Grade 11 and Grade 12 History classes and plans to coach sports, while his wife Joan and children Kyle and Brock relocate to Rossburn.

Fire chief sought in Rossburn after resignations
The Village of Rossburn expects a new fire chief to be appointed within a week after Lorne Johnston resigned as Rossburn Fire Department chief as of December 31. Deputy Chief Larry Sidoryk will handle duties temporarily if a fire occurs. Johnston has moved to Baker Lake Northwest Territories where he is employed.

School bus provisions underway at Rossburn Collegiate
Rossburn Collegiate introduces morning bus service from Elementary School grounds between 8:50 and 8:55 a.m. for area students and an afternoon return ride at 3:30 p.m. The program runs on an experimental basis in January and will be discontinued if unused or abused.
